Johnny Truant - No Tears for the Creatures

You'll need 5 minutes to gather yourself before pressing play again, and again, and again

Album title: Johnny Truant
Artist: No Tears for the Creatures
Label: United by Fate
Release date: 2 Jun

As moment you press play on Johnny Truant’s third LP, you will surely swear that demons have possessed your CD player. Boasting production work from Dan Weller and Justin Hill (of SikTh fame), this is a tight and technical mix of apocalyptic riffs and disjointed yet seamless changes. The swirling guitar on the first track truly is as its name suggests; Grotesque. Crush and Devour exposes the band's straight up rock side while Fog Lights is the token soft tune which melds well with the eerie closing salvo of The Weeping, Wailing and Gnashing of Teeth. With a majority of the songs being a relentless aural assault, the record is so thick and chaotic at times it feels like on hour inside a tornado. No Tears for the Creatures entirely justifies Johnny Truant’s upcoming high profile tour schedule, which features a Download appearance and a stack of headlining dates. This is a rascal of a record that'll require you to take 5 minutes to gather yourself before pressing play again, and again, and again. [Vanessa Cox]
