Dropkick Murphys - Live On Lansdowne, Boston, MA

Album Review by Ryan Drever | 25 Mar 2010
Album title: Live On Lansdowne, Boston, MA
Artist: Dropkick Murphys
Label: Cooking Vinyl
Release date: Out Now

With so many tours rattling through nearly every town with a PA these days - combined with the relentless collection of live clips and streams at our digital fingertips - perhaps there isn't any real need for whole live albums such as Live On Lansdowne anymore.

That being said, as a precursor to the Murphys' upcoming UK tour, there are few better ways to get you in the mood. Screaming into action with a rip-roaring Famous For Nothing the band simply batter through a beer-drenched set culling the best celtic punk chunks from their annual St Patrick's weekend festivities.

Comprising largely of songs from the band's last few studio albums, its their now stone cold classic reworking of the Woody Guthrie-penned I'm Shipping Up To Boston - performed here with the legendary Mighty Mighty Bosstones - that steals the show. [Ryan Drever]
