Binary Zero - From Here You Can See Everything

Album Review by Michael Slevin | 16 Jun 2008
Album title: From Here You Can See Everything
Artist: Binary Zero
Label: Alex Tronic Records
Release date: 16 Jun

Binary Zero prove here that having a good name does not mean you automatically create good music. Whilst the main rhythms and solid basslines are initially promising, their potential is wasted by the constant use of irritating blips and annoying high-pitched stabs. This is pure computer music, with horribly out of time beats clashing with tinnitus-inducing feedback effects. The strangely named songs aptly fit their respective compositions: Holiday Insane Break Face sounds like some sort of weird march with electronic bagpipes. That alone sums up how peculiar, and unappealing, this album truly is. If a seizure could be described in musical form, this is what it would sound like. If you like your music ultra-repetitive, jarring, offbeat and above all bizarre, then this one’s for you. If not, you’d be much better off looking elsewhere. At least it’s certainly digital.
