Being 747 – Amoeba to Zebra

Album Review by David McNally | 15 Aug 2010
Album title: Amoeba to Zebra
Artist: Being 747
Label: Wrath
Release date: Out Now

I'm not a parent but if I was my kids would be getting this CD in the ear, and I'd drag them to the live show (featuring at this year's Fringe) as well. Imagine if The Divine Comedy had got together with early XTC to stage a song-cycle about the evolution of life on Earth, or if David Attenburgh decided to speak only in rhyme from now on and was followed by a punk band everywhere he went. It's like that, only more fun.

Education plus music usually leads to cultural death, but not here. It repays repeated listens (always the test of anything infotainment-related) and will appeal to adults as much as kids. The trio Being 747 have been touring it all over secondary schools in England and are bringing it north for the first time right now at the Counting House, catch them on 29th August if you can.
