Kid 606 - Shout At The Döner

Album Review by Ryan Drever | 13 May 2009
Album title: Shout At The Doner
Artist: Kid 606
Label: Tigerbeat6
Release date: 27 April

Spanning four equally sporadic and frenetic movements, Shout At The Döner is the tenth full-length from Kid 606. Riddled with the usual glitches and hilariously augmented or rather 'fucked up' vocal samples - Mr Wobble's Nightmare being a particularly debauched standout - the album audaciously drags the lake of electronic music to showcase savage demonstrations in everything from pumping techno and ambient hip-hop textures to synth-laden 80s style grooves in a heartbeat. Spanning such wide genre gaps in the field of electronic music, the Kid has managed to create an album that sounds consistently madcap yet constantly moving and surprising. Dragging several loops out to the absolute limit, this album appears more suited to soundtracking a house party or slightly more adventurous club night than casual bedroom listening. If you can bear to crank it loud enough, then you might be on to a winner.
