Attic Lights - 'Shiver The Trees'

There must be some cosmic link between the west coasts of Scotland and the USA. From Saltcoats to Sausalito and Johnstone to Joshua Tree, there is a well-trodden path of Scottish bands imitating the Americana sound with varying degrees of success. Attic Lights are the latest members of this gang. 'Shiver the Trees' is their new EP, containing four songs of uplifting melodies and honey-dripped harmonies that conjure up the sun. The spirit of Gram Parsons and Big Star stand in the wings, looking on approvingly as these Glasgow boys follow in their footsteps with songwriting talent that elevates them above their peers. I can't say their sound is original but if, like me, you're a sucker for some pedal steel and a four-part harmony you should check these guys out. [Dave Reid]
