This Icelandic electronic outfit have metamorphosed considerably since their formation in 1995 as a multi-faceted, eclectic group who aside from their musical output, also operated as a film, dance and acting collective. This first release since 2007’s absorbing Forever sees membership stripped down to a mere three (it has been as high as nine) which is reflected in a similarly pared down album of what amounts to straightforward, classic techno; which, despite the unfussy but tight production, could have been released at any time since the bands inception. First tracks Thin Ice (after a pointless vocal/house intro) and Hateful embody this most, with portentous bass and hypno-trance rhythm custom-designed for the undoubted remixes to come. The rest of the album is thankfully more idiosyncratic. First single Add This Song offers itself up as a somewhat kitsch (with gaudy synths and the almost comedy-seriousness of Daniel Gust’s vocal) clubbers anthem, and is all the more fun for not taking itself seriously.
