A Band Called Quinn - Sun Moon Stars

Album Review by Allan Valente | 17 Mar 2009
Album title: Sun Moon Stars
Artist: A Band Called Quinn
Label: Neon Tetra Records
Release date: 16 March 2009

If Louise Quinn is determined to add her name to the list of resolute and iconic front women, somewhat akin to the likes of Debbie Harry and Goldfrapp, then she is certainly going about it the right way. Sun Moon Stars sees Quinn and her bandmates unleash an eclectic album mixed with perfect electro-pop and more down to earth acoustic delights. It’s the kind of album that could either be the ideal soundtrack to a night out or the perfect medicine to help you through a miserable hangover. The Glimmer Song opens proceedings and it’s an obvious choice for a single release with its immediate charm and infectious chorus. But it is the likes of The Last Night I Saw and D.I.Y that really stand out as potential modern classics proving that, even if the band name seems a little self-indulgent, Quinn really is on to something special. A Band Called Quinn also play HMV, Glasgow on 16th March and The Buff Club, Glasgow on 19th March.
