The Answer - Everyday Demons

Album Review by Ryan Drever | 24 Mar 2009
Album title: Everyday Demons
Artist: The Answer
Label: Self-released
Release date: 2 Mar

One listen to Everyday Demons, and we're not surprised that The Answer are currently supporting AC/DC. The Irish lads' cranked-up blues riffs and squealing vocals sound so close to their heroes that it's actually disappointing, compelled to raid the classic rock vaults rather than deal with what is, at best, just a good imitation. Every note of every song screams classic rock; surely, for a modern band, we can expect much better. On and On and opener Demon Daysare pounding, dirty affairs; Walking Mat and Pride flit into Guns N' Roses' - and occasionally Black Crowes' - melodic territory; and songs like Cry Out and Comfort Zone briefly attempt to change things up with a slower pace but again manage only just conjure a land already explored. The band obviously have the chops to draw beer-soaked applause from a stadium crowd, but in any other context, the result flits between annoying and just plain boring.
