We See Lights - Parachute

Parachute feels like something of a missed opportunity

Single Review by Darren Carle | 01 Dec 2008
Single title: Parachute
Artist: We See Lights
Label: Self-released
Release date: 1 Dec

Edinburgh’s septet We See Lights are in good company these days, whether it’s playing the numbers game with the equally expansive Broken Records, or the thick-Scottish heartbreak paeans of Frightened Rabbit, all shot through with the twee boy-girl vocals of Belle and Sebastian. However, nothing to do with the actual production, but this first taster from their forthcoming debut album feels a little unfinished as a song. What initially seems to be a perfectly good bridge in fact turns out to be a rather underwhelming chorus, leaving Parachute feeling like something of a missed opportunity. The jury’s out for now. We See Lights play The Mill, Edinburgh on 11 Dec
