One Night Only - Started A Fire

Ten neat and well polished pop songs.

Album title: Started A Fire
Artist: One Night Only
Label: Vertigo
Hailing from Helmsley in the north-east of England, One Night Only seek ways to embellish on the burgeoning British indie rock scene and it's a testament to their talent that they're able to find ways to flog this now well-worn horse at all. With musical reference points ranging through the Kooks and Razorlight, with just a dash of The Bravery, there are few surprises here. Instead, what we're served up is ten neat and well polished pop songs. Singles You & Me and Just for Tonight have and will continue to sweep indie disco dancefloors, as the girls swoon to the soft musings of George Craig, and boys join arm in arm and dance with a carefree twinkle in their eye. Without a greater diversity to their sound, however, One Night Only can only hope to be but a footnote in the history of noughties brit rock. [Neal Parsons]
