Lisa Gerard - The Best Of...

could make the argument over who is doing the dishes seem like it's the end of the world

Album title: The Best Of...
Artist: Lisa Gerard
Label: 4AD
Here it is, the album review you have been waiting for, the world famous Lisa Gerard's best of. Never heard of her? Well if you have ever watched The Gladiator, Whale Rider or Mission Impossible 2 then you know the tunes. Ms Gerard writes the over-the-top scores to accompany the slow motion sequences that frequent these films. With song titles such as The Promised Womb and Yulanga (Spirit Dance), you could be forgiven for affording yourself a little chuckle. The intro track sounds like it has been lifted straight from the Afghanistan scene in Team America and, really, the only possible use for this music is to accompany the aforementioned epics, or a parody of one. Maybe you could make the argument over who is doing the dishes with your partner seem like it's the end of the world, simply by putting this album on. This is Enya without the hits. [David Coyle]
