I Was a Cub Scout - I Hate Nightclubs/Oh What a Fiasco

Do The Kooks have an emo side project? I didn't think so either until I heard this single. Oh What a Fiasco appears to be about the singer trying to pull before his band goes on tour. There are some impressive melodies attempted, yet they are achieved with a level of success equivalent to that of Eddie 'the Eagle' Edwards. Steve Lamacq may back them, but this is a poorly performed, poorly produced blast of sickly sweet punk pop. When this band run out of unattainable girls to sing about, hopefully the end will be in sight. [David Coyle]
