Album title: The Sun Behind The Dustbin
Artist: Beehoover
Label: Exile On Mainstream
Beehoover are Claus-Peter Hamisch and Ingmar Petersen, otherwise known as the rhythm section of German doom merchants, Voodooshock. With their sounds as deeply rooted in jazz and avant-garde as they are in hard rock, The Sun Behind The Dustbin is a truly progressive metal sound that still manages to maintain an attachment to the purism of the genre. Think traditional doom meets psychedelia, remove guitars almost entirely and you're probably somewhere near what's happening here. At times, Beehoover invites the listener to become lost within distant, instrumental dirges and at others, to delve deeply into the poignant narratives that run throughout. Exploring places of such hidden depths and epic darkness, The Sun Behind The Dustbin is a sagacious triumph in every manner possible. [Neil Ferguson]
