Someyoungpedro - Someyoungpedro

The vocals are never less than wildly indiscernible but the whole thing verges on the right side of noise, with particularly excellent drumming on some of the tracks.

Someyoungpedro describe their self-titled album as 'frantic punk-rock' - and they are accurate. This is a refreshing sonic attack from a young band with plenty of potential. With similarities to local brethren like I'm Being Good and Danananaykroyd, they nosedive into sonic mayhem but manage to surface with discernable loose, stringed breakdowns. The standout tracks on this debut LP are 'Jehovah' and 'Japan', making excellent use of shouts over layers of screeching guitar. The vocals are never less than wildly indiscernible but the whole thing verges on the right side of noise, with particularly excellent drumming on some of the tracks. This won't be climbing up the charts any time soon, but it's worth looking out for if you want a twisted bite of noise-punk, complete with an impressive aftertaste. [Craig Dorrall]
