Standing In The Way of Control is a protest song (for gay rights apparently). But instead of allowing their lyrics to get bogged down in the nitty gritty ins and outs of their beliefs, Gossip have combined two of the most historically potent genres of protest music (soul and punk), thrown in a straight forward, dancefloor friendly lyric and come up trumps. One imagines remixers worldwide salivating at the thought of getting their grubby mitts on this, given the public's current penchant for electro/clash.
