The Ceasing – Jo Mango & Louis Abbott: Track Premiere

Feature by News Team | 14 Nov 2016

Listen to The Ceasing, a new track by Jo Mango and Admiral Fallow's Louis Abbott from the When Tomorrow Becomes Yesterday project

The project sees Mango teamed up with songwriters Abbott, Craig Beaton (A Mote of Dust /Unwinding Hours) and Adem, as well as a host of academics and sustainability campaigners to "imagine a future in a more sustainable world".

Mango travelled to London, Manchester and Edinburgh to work alongside the songwriters and academics and craft songs around issues of climate change and global warming, with The Ceasing in particular inspired by workshops with Creative Carbon Scotland and researchers from The University of Edinburgh. Describing The Ceasing, Abbott says: "Me and Jo met up, and she had written some verses around the themes of mortality, and a kind of imagined future without a loved one."

Listen to Mango and Abbott's track, recorded at Manchester Museum, in the player below; watch a short film detailing the project, produced by WakeUpAdvice, here.

'When Tomorrow Becomes Yesterday: Sustainability in Song' is funded by The Arts and Humanities Research Council, part of the Connected Communities Programme.
