Swans, The Cribs and Peace added to Liverpool Sound City

Article by News Team | 27 Feb 2015

Reactivated post-punk experimentalists Swans have been announced among the latest additions to the Liverpool Sound City bill.

Fellow new announcements The Cribs, Peace and Everything Everything also rank alongside the bigger names to play this year's festival, at its new home in the city's Stanley Dock site. Other acts aded to the bill include Fat White Family, Iceage, Bill Ryder-Jones, Honeyblood and Blossoms, plus The Sundowners, The Tea Street Band, Barberos and Bad Meds numbering among the local acts.

Formed by Michael Gira in 1982, the crushingly-loud Swans evolved from the same New York no wave scene that birthed Sonic Youth (whose own Thurston Moore also features in the festival line-up). Known for their dense textures and repetitive structures, the band released 10 studio albums before splitting after a 15-year career. They marked their 2010 comeback with a series of blistering live shows and the critically-acclaimed album My Father Will Guide Me up a Rope to the Sky, with another two post-reunion albums released since.
