The Duke Street Expo, taking place in Glasgow on 31 May as part of the East End Social, have just announced a brace of new names for the pop-up music stages at their annual event, including orchestral indie-rockers Admiral Fallow, Phantom Band front-man Rick Redbeard (one of the shortlisted acts for the coveted 2014 Scottish Album of the Year Award), Fence co-founder King Creosote, and Alexis Taylor of Hot Chip. The all-day event is part of the Glasgow 2014 Cultural Programme, and will also feature food, drink, art and performance from local bands, artists and businesses, with pop-up performances in various locations along Duke Street, from charity shops to art galleries; florists and barbers to restaurants and shops.

The concerts will take place at churches in adjacent streets, with Admiral Fallow, Rick Redbeard and Edinburgh-based rising hip-hop and R 'n' B star Kobi Onyame in The Everlasting Arms Church, and King Creosote, Alexis Taylor and Siobhan Wilson performing at the Dennistoun New Parish Church. Other bands, musicians and performers will be in place at locations all along Duke Street. The two concerts will be covered by a £15 ticket, which guarantees entry to both events. At the pop-up gigs, you will be able to catch sets from the likes of Adam Stafford and Hector Bizerk.

The Duke Street Expo is just one of the highlights of the ambitious East End Social project, co-ordinated by celebrated Glasgow label Chemikal Underground. Other events you'll want to be sure not to miss include a Lost Map showcase featuring Tuff Love, The Pictish Trail and Monoganon (25 May, Bowler's Bar), a double header featuring United Fruit and Tall Ships (18 July, Bowler's Bar), and the Optimo (Espacio) Barrowland Revue, featuring Todd Terje, Golden Teacher, Ben UFO, Tim Sweeney of Beats In Space and DFA Records, and Optimo residents Twitch and Wilkes (25 May, The Barrowlands).
