This year's Record Store Day (19 April) is shaping up to be a bit of a blinder, with a whole raft of exclusive and limited-edition releases, reissues and rarities confirmed from up-and-coming bands and music industry veterans alike. One of the most exciting releases confirmed so far is a strictly limited edition 7" box-set from grunge legends Dinosaur Jr. Their box-set, Visitors, is a five-disc set, collecting the band's ultra-rare first singles for labels SST and Homestead, as well as a bonus disc featuring a cover version of The Byrds' I'll Feel A Whole Lot Better.

Also revealed in the past week or so are an impressive list of bands with releases planned for the event - avant garde synth-pop ensemble Art of Noise will release a 12" picture disc entitled Live at the End of a Century, a recording of their 1999 set at the Coachella Festival. Other returning veterans include The Byrds, who will reissue live album Straight For The Sun on white vinyl, and Alice Cooper, whose Live at Montreux 2005 also gets the white vinyl treatment. Inspiral Carpets will reissue their 1989, tape-only album Dung as a 4 LP set. Pychic TV meanwhile will see not one but three live albums reissued - Hacienda, recorded at the iconic Manchester club, will appear on double red vinyl, as will Thee Fabulous Heat ov Flowering Light, from a 1985 gig in London, and Live at Thee Marquee, recorded in 1986. Also from 1986, Neil Young's live album Cow Palace gets a vinyl reissue too.

Glasgow indie legends Camera Obscura will release the Session EP, a live recording made at their home town show at the Tron Theatre following the release of last year's Desire Lines. Fucked Up have a new single planned - Year of the Dragon will be issued on 12". Public Service Broadcasting have a 7" which will be available solely in Europe, featuring the tracks Elfstedentocht Parts 1 and 2. Jon Spencer Blues Explosion have recorded two Beastie Boys / Link Wray mashups entitled She's On It and Jack The Ripper - that gets a 12" release.

The Black Crowes have planned a reissue of their 2008 album Warpaint on a white vinyl 3 LP set. Detroit rapper Black Milk will release a new EP, Glitches in the Break. Idaho indie rockers Built To Spill will resissue their 1993 album Ultimate Alternative Wavers on limited edition gold vinyl.

Also planned are a selection of compilations, including In Utero, In Tribute, In Entirety, a Nirvana tribute - details of the bands featured have yet to emerge. There will also be a compilation from Medical Records, Electroconvulsive Therapy Volume 2, a follow-up to their 2013 release, which featured Psychic Youth and other artists from the label.

That's it for the releases announced so far - we'll keep you updated as further details emerge and more releases are confirmed. If you are a band or artist with a release, a concert or an event lined up for Record Store Day, be sure to get in touch and let us know your plans!
