Pleasance Sessions 'to take year off’ for 2015

UPDATE: The Pleasance Sessions will in fact return for an October weekender in 2015!

The annual Pleasance Sessions series of music, spoken word and comedy shows at Edinburgh University’s Pleasance Theatre will not take place in 2015, according to organisers.

A major refurbishment of the Pleasance Theatre and adjacent Cabaret Bar by the University, beginning after this year’s Edinburgh Fringe, appears to have put paid to this year’s Sessions, with organisers stating that the event will "be back in 2016”.

Edinburgh University Students’ Association said in a statement: “EUSA have been lucky enough to collaborate with some amazing festivals, labels, magazines, promoters and societies over the 2 year run of the festival and thank them all very much for their on-going support.”

The Skinny has programmed events at the two previous seasons of Pleasance Sessions, with Rick Redbeard, LAW, Siobhan Wilson and Honeyblood playing our 2013 date, while last year saw Birdhead, Remember Remember and The Phantom Band perform. Pleasance Sessions events have been curated by figures from across the Scottish arts scene, including Neu! Reekie!, Lost Map Records, Limbo, Vic Galloway, Song by Toad and The List.
