Nirvana are among the bands to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2014. Rolling Stone reported on the legendary grunge band's inclusion in this year's crop of bands added to the illustrious Hall of Fame – artists are eligible 25 years after the release of their first album or single, making Nirvana eligible 25 years on from the release of their debut, Love Buzz, on Sub Pop.

Also inducted next year will be Kiss, Peter Gabriel, Hall and Oates, and Linda Ronstadt. The bands will be officially inducted in a ceremony in Brooklyn, New York in April. Nirvana's inclusion is a significant one, given that their career technically only lasted a few short years, due to Kurt Cobain's untimely death in 1994. Nonetheless, their massive influence on generations of future bands resulted in their inclusion this year, beating nominated bands such as N.W.A., Chic, L.L. Cool J and The Zombies

This week was also the 20th anniversary of Nirvana's much-loved Unplugged In New York concert for MTV, which went on to sell over 25 million copies worldwide.
