New Order announce new album ‘Music Complete’

Feature by Dave Kerr | 22 Jun 2015

New Order will release their first studio album in a decade this autumn, with Music Complete due for release this September.

The new album will be the band’s first since Waiting For The Sirens' Call in 2005. While the Manchester legends are still without founding bassist Peter Hook, original keyboardist Gillian Gilbert does return to the recording line-up for the first time since 2001's Get Ready. The band have also shared a 30-second trailer for the new album; take a listen in the player below.

Speaking to The Skinny in 2012, drummer Stephen Morris revealed that the band had a wealth of unreleased music following the sessions for Sirens' Call. Morris said: "Basically, we realised we had two albums; it was more about how to split [the material].

"So we ended up finishing off the first lot, but we still had eight tracks leftover. The idea was that we would finish those quite quickly, because everything with New Order seems to take five years. For one reason or another, history shows what, it never happened."

Music Complete is out on CD, vinyl and download on 25 Sep via Mute.
