Neu! Reekie! Celts: Full line-up revealed

The full line-up for Neu! Reekie!'s late night party at the National Museum of Scotland has been unveiled.

Welsh soprano turned pop activist Charlotte Church headlines the Celts night on 23 September with her Late Night Pop Dungeon, alongside poetry from former Scots Makar Liz Lochhead and the Ette solo project of TeenCanteen’s Carla J Easton.

New to the bill are Glasgow-based MC Loki in a collaboration with songwriter Becci Wallace, solo sets from electronic songwriter Lyre and Lomond Campbell (the solo project of FOUND member Ziggy Campbell), as well as roving performances from physical theatre outfit Bark Collective.

Earlier this month, Neu! Reekie!’s Michael Pedersen explained that the evening’s performances are in reaction and response to the ‘Celts’ exhibition currently showing at the National Museum, with both Lochhead and Easton intending to use the exhibition as inspiration for new work.

As well as a bold step from Neu! Reekie!’s often underground leanings, Pedersen suggests that the show’s September date offers a finger to the suggestion that “culture in Scotland comes crumbling down” after August’s festivals: “Does it fuck!”

Neu! Reekie! Celts, September 23, National Museum of Scotland. Tickets are on sale now.
