The Glasgow band continue to dip their toes in the world of soundtracking with this track from forthcoming sci-fi Kin

Glasgow post-rock dons Mogwai have been carving out a nice sideline in soundtracking when they aren't caving our chests in with massive waves of noise. They’ve created scores for television (spooky French drama The Returned), artist moving image (Douglas Gordon’s Zidane: A 21st Century Portrait), experimental documentary (Mark Cousins’ Atomic: Living in Dread and Promise) and straight-up documentary (Leonardo DiCaprio climate change film Before the Flood). Now they can tick fiction film off the list, with their soundtracking work on sci-fi/crime epic Kin.

This morning Mogwai released their new track Donuts, which appears in the debut feature film from Jonathan and Josh Baker. Have a listen in the player below.

The film follows a recently released ex-con (rising Irish actor Jack Reynor) and his adopted teen brother (newcomer Myles Truitt), who are forced to go on the run when the younger lad happens upon a mysterious weapon with awesome powers that are clearly not of this world. As well as being pursued by the authorities, they also have James Franco, who’s playing a snarling criminal who could be a cousin of his ridiculous gangsta rapper character from Spring Breakers, on their tail. Zoë Kravitz, Carrie Coon and Dennis Quaid also star, with Stranger Things' Shawn Levy and Dan Cohen producing.

Kin’s first trailer was released last night, have a look in the player below.
