Run the Jewels 2 is about to get a companion, after the ‘Meow the Jewels’ campaign to remix Killer Mike and El-P’s new album using cat sounds reached its funding target.

The all-feline project was originally listed as a pre-order bonus for the duo’s second LP, with the following proviso: “Run the Jewels reserves the right to take your money and not fulfill any of its obligations as outlined in any package priced at 35k or more.”

Now the ‘Meow the Jewels’ project has now received the full backing of the group with production led by El-P – Dan the Automator, Portishead's Geoff Barrow, Prince Paul, Zola Jesus, Bauuer, Boots, Just Blaze, The Alchemist, Skywlkr, and Nick Hook are all onboard to assist.

Earlier this week the duo unveiled another track from Run the Jewels 2, featuring guest vocals from former Rage Against The Machine vocalist Zack de la Rocha.

‘Close Your Eyes (and Count to Fuck)’ is the third track from the LP to be previewed online, following the debuts of 'Blockbuster Night Part 1' and 'Oh My Darling Don't Cry'.

Rage... frontman de la Rocha’s contribution is his first since a 2013 appearance on Del the Funky Homosapien and Dan the Automator’s Deltron 3030 side-project.

Run the Jewels recently confirmed a debut Scottish show at Glasgow’s Garage on 10 Dec, alongside a previously-announced gig at Gorilla in Manchester on 11 Dec.

Run the Jewels 2 is out on vinyl, CD and free download on 27 Oct, via Mass Appeal.
