US singer-songwriter John Grant has announced details of his third solo album Grey Tickles, Black Pressure, the follow-up to 2013’s Pale Green Ghosts.

Grey Tickles… features guest vocals from Amanda Palmer and Tracey Thorn of Everything but the Girl, and Grant has released a blood-soaked 30 second trailer for the new LP; watch the clip in the player below.

Grant, formerly of Colorado rockers The Czars, revealed he had been diagnosed HIV-positive in 2012, and in an interview with us following the release of Pale Green Ghosts, Grant said: “I was angry when I wrote (the album). But now I feel like I’m in the stage of acceptance. Most of that is directed at myself, feeling sad and angry that I wasn’t able to have enough of a love for myself, to avoid getting into my current situation.

"For the most part, I’ve accepted that I’m a very flawed human being who is trying to wake up and take part in his own life and not just let life happen to me, but it’s also me saying, ‘I would like to just feel like I deserve to be loved and have a great life. No more and no less than anybody else.’"

Grey Tickles, Black Pressure is out on 2 Oct via Bella Union. Grant has also announced a European tour for this winter – the lone UK date is at London’s Hammersmith Apollo on 12 November.
