Honeyblood to return with Babes Never Die

Article by Dave Kerr | 14 Jul 2016

Edinburgh-raised grunge pop duo Honeyblood have announced their second album Babes Never Die, due for release via FatCat on 4 November.

Today they share lead single and video Ready For the Magic. The clip is a collaboration between the band's frontwoman Stina Tweeddale, drummer Cat Myers and director Thomas James. Set in the Scottish countryside, the narrative follows a tribe of girls living a feral existence and fending for themselves in a dystopian landscape. Watch the video below.

The video's protagonist is pictured on the album sleeve itself. “I loved the idea of this feral tribe of young badass girls causing chaos,” says Tweeddale. “It’s an image that chimes with what the album is all about.

“The title is my own mantra, I think it’s something I tell myself every day. Indifference is a plague. Giving up and turning a blind eye will be the end of us. Never before has that been more true.”

The follow up to their 2014 debut (and first featuring Myers, who joined soon after its release), was recorded this past winter with James Dring (who has worked with the varied likes of Gorillaz, Lana Del Rey and Tha Alkaholiks) at London’s Fish Factory studios.
