Faith No More to release new album ‘Sol Invictus’ in May

Feature by Dave Kerr | 10 Feb 2015

Mike Patton and Faith No More have announced that their first new album in 18 years, entitled Sol Invictus, is due out later this year.

The follow-up to 1997’s Album Of The Year is the first studio album from the band since their 2009 reunion, and follows the announcement that the band will play this year’s Download Festival in June.

Discussing the band’s reformation with The Skinny in 2010, Patton said: “It’s something we should feel collectively proud of, and really not hold any personal grudges about. I don’t think we’ve ever been happier playing this stuff, or closer as people. It’s interesting to see how time treats situations like that.”

Sol Invictus was produced by bassist Bill Gould and recorded in the band’s studio in Oakland, California. The album is out on 19 May via Reclamation/Ipecac; a limited edition 7-inch vinyl for single ‘Superhero’ is out on 17 March. You can hear the first track from the effort, titled 'Motherfucker', here.
