Glasgow synth-pop trio CHVRCHES will release their second album Every Open Eye this September, offering a glimpse today with lead single Leave A Trace (listen below).

The new album from Lauren Mayberry, Iain Cook and Martin Doherty is the follow-up to their debut LP The Bones of What You Believe, which won widespread acclaim as one of the best albums of 2013. Following the release of The Bones... the band embarked on a wave of tours across Europe, Asia and North America, and provided one-off tracks to soundtracks for The Hunger Games sequel Mockingjay and Zane Lowe's 'rescored' version of Nicholas Winding Refn's Drive

Speaking to The Skinny in 2013, Doherty – a former touring member of The Twilight Sad – stated that the trio's musical past had set CHVRCHES up with a solid platform for the future. He said: "That's one of the things about this band – although to a certain number of people it might appear as though it happened really fast for us, that's not the way it is.

"We've all cut our teeth and put in the hours over the years, and learned as much as possible, and we were drawing on that experience when we were writing these songs and putting together this band."

Cook added: "If there's anything that I would hope people take from what we do, it's just that you can foreground melodies in your songs, and it doesn't have to be uncool." Every Open Eye is out on 25 September.
