Edinburgh composer and electronic musician Anna Meredith reveals the video for R-Type, from her forthcoming debut album.

The album, entitled Varmints, is scheduled for release in 2016 via Moshi Moshi (currently home to Summer Camp, Sweet Baboo and Kiran Leonard), and follows Meredith's critically-acclaimed EPs Black Prince Fury (2012) and Jet Black Raider (2013).

Directed by Johnny Sanders, the video marks Meredith's return to the public eye following her recent appearance at Le Guess Who? festival in Utrecht.

Of the video, Meredith says:

“I loved Jonny’s concept for the video in terms of colour and energy and was really chuffed he was up for me feeding in what musical elements are important to show in the track. (He even took some of the midi from the notated sheet music in the track to map some of the lines and track layers of colours as we play.) Filming was done in solos, pairs and trios to reflect who plays what kind of material but I love what he's done with the energy of the edit as you build through the track.”

Varmints will be released on 4 Mar 2016. The tracklist is as follows:

1. Nautilus
2. Taken
3. Scrimshaw
4. Something Helpful
5. R-Type
6. Dowager
7. The Vapours
8. Honeyed Words
9. Last Rose
10. Shill
