Listen to Solar, the new song from Glasgow producer Turtle
After successful EP releases in 2014 and 2015, Glasgow-based producer Jon Cooper, aka Turtle, is back in 2017 with his debut album Human, a direct result of Cooper confronting a dark period in his life head on. Read our interview with Cooper, on embracing the symbolism of his namesake and the creation of the new album, here.
Through comparisons with the likes of Jon Hopkins, SOHN and Thom Yorke, Cooper’s magical ability to paint diverse changing landscapes within electronic music has seen him championed by a number of BBC 6 Music DJs including Lauren Laverne, Gilles Peterson, Nemone and Steve Lamacq, as well as Radio 1’s Huw Stephens and Radio Scotland’s Vic Galloway.
The Skinny are delighted to be premiering Solar, taken from Human ahead of the album's release on 30 Jun via Beatnik Creative. Cooper tells us: "Solar was inspired by spiritual aspects of the solar plexus. Self identity. Courage. Ethics. Inner power. How we see and feel about ourselves. The "I am" ness of our self perceptions. I am human. I am love. I am one. The opposite of fear."
Human is released on 30 Jun via Beatnik Creative. You can pre-order the album here.
