Luna Delirious is a singer-songwriter from Edinburgh who has been writing her own music since the age of 16. She’s only really been on the gigging circuit for the past couple of years and in August 2016 was a featured act for Born to Be Wide’s show as part of the Edinburgh Book Festival, where she performed alongside Honeyblood’s Stina Tweeddale.

The 21-year-old talent, influenced by girl groups of the 60s, is set to release a brand new single for Valentine’s Day entitled Valentine, which The Skinny are delighted to be premiering; listen to it in the SoundCloud player below. On Valentine Luna Delirious is vulnerable and full of emotion; her raspy soulful vocals are perfectly coupled with the song’s simple stripped-bare instrumentation.

“The song is about looking back on an old love, and looking at where you are now and maybe having some regrets,” she tells us. “It’s about almost being shocked at how infatuated you became with one person, and accepting it for what it is and realising you will probably feel the same way for a long time.

“I take a lot of influences from 60s girl groups and soul singers, The Crystals, Etta James, Dinah Washington, etc. They all write the same kind of ‘I would lie in the road and die for you to prove I love you’ way. I also listen to a lot of Amy Winehouse and really adore the honesty in her lyrics.”

Valentine is available via iTunes and Spotify from 15 Feb.
