Harry and the Hendersons – Matchstick Men (Track Premiere)

Feature by Music Team | 23 Jun 2017

Listen to the track taken from the Rutherglen seven-piece's debut album Method of the Matchstick Men

The Hendersons' debut single was released via the student-run Electric Honey label responsible for early releases from Be Charlotte, Pronto Mama, Belle and Sebastian and Biffy Clyro among others. Matchstick Men is the first track from the band's debut album, and sees the band build on their folk-pop stylings, before building to a glittering crescendo. The seven-piece rotate the role of lead singer, with each of the band's members contributing to their songwriting.

Describing the new track, which you can hear in the player below, guitarist Stuart Neill says: "Matchstick Men looks at the human experience and collective need for an understanding of our own existence and whether there is something beyond what our senses perceive."

Harry and the Hendersons play the St Luke's all-dayer on 6 Aug; line-up and ticket details can be found here.
