Edinburgh-based singer-songwriter Andy Thomson, aka Fuzzystar, released his Telegraphing album at the end of April via Satellite Sounds. The latest single to be taken from the album, Superhero, is a lovely slice of upbeat jangly guitar pop. The single was released on 1 Dec, and The Skinny are delighted to be premiering its accompanying music video which you can watch in the player above, or on YouTube here.

"This track was written during a period where a few things weren't going brilliant personally,” Thomson tells us. “I didn't really want to spell it out and was reading a bunch of graphic novels at the time (Chris Ware and Joe Sacco), so just started writing about it more indirectly as a story. I've always liked contradictory songs that are so melodic and deceptively poppy on the surface but hide a little more within.

"From folks like The Shangri-Las and Phil Spector-y production that you can hum along to without necessarily noticing some of the darkness, to folks like The Lemonheads who have tunes like If I Could Talk I’d Tell You, or Confetti where the melody is so catchy you can miss the references to flushing anti-depressants or overlook that it's about something as painful and fundamentally life-altering as the disintegration of a marriage.

"The video itself was shot in a big outbuilding on the farm our drummer stays on – supervised by his dog."
