Listen to grungey indie rock banger Peace from the new album by Bryde

Wales-born, London-based songwriter Bryde's debut album Like An Island drops next month, and we're happy to be sharing a first listen to the grungey, dynamic track Peace taken from the new record. Like An Island – released via Bryde's own female-focused Seahorse Music record label, and with mixing by Wolf Alice and St. Vincent collaborator Catherine Marks – is "a record of catharsis which gives a voice to bad times and exorcises old demons," with its creation backed by the PRS Foundation's Women Make Music fund.

Telling the story behind Peace, Bryde says: "Peace is about a moment of contentment, sitting with a new friend in the warm glow of one... maybe two JD 'n' cokes and just remembering how it feels to be really liked for who you are, flaws and all. No games.

"I like the fact that Peace is one of the loudest tracks on the album. I've shouted a lot about conflict, I think peace deserves some amplification too." Give Peace a chance in the SoundCloud player below.

Like an Island is out on 13 Apr via Seahorse Music; Bryde plays Sneaky Pete's, Edinburgh, 16 Apr
