How do you document your relationships? Mash notes? Diary entries? Jack Dawson-style portraits? Or you could always just go the whole hog and analyse them via intricately-composed song cycles. That's precisely what electronic producer Astronomyy has done with latest EP Rest in Paradise. Released via his own label Lunar Surf, it's a journey through the initial spark of attraction, through a period of self-doubt, and finally arriving at a question mark – does the title track depict an ending or a new beginning? That's for you to decide.
We've got an exclusive premiere of the EP's penultimate track Everythin' on my Mind here; a perfect example of Astronomy's silky-smooth fusion of featherlight instrumentation with sparse trap rhythms (which he calls "guitar'n'B") and an ongoing blurring of light and shade. Co-produced with LA's similarly-minded YOG$, it's another impressive offering from a producer on the rise. Listen to the track in the player below.
