Watch Angel Olsen's new video for Sister
Angel Olsen reveals a dramatic, dusty video for Sister, ahead of new album MY WOMAN
Take a heartbreaking, slow-burning tour through LA's palm trees in the video Olsen co-directed with Conor Hagan. The eight minute-long epic pans from sprawling shots of the city's lights to intimate close-ups as the musician walks us through memories of lost love and past intentions. "Show me the future / Tell me you'll be there," sings Olsen, staring firmly out of shot.
We leave behind an empty, sun-bleached house once the sun begins to set, and relocate to the rugged, rocky Joshua Tree National Park. Dusk falls. Half sombre, half smiling, Olsen shrugs "I want to live life / I want to die right" as the ballad builds towards truly astonishing proportions. Squawling guitars let loose as the moon rises, the wind picks up and twisted trees spike the skyline; Olsen throws herself into a swimming pool with all the panache of old Hollywood. It is huge.
Sister is the third track Angel Olsen has shared from MY WOMAN, following equally incredible videos for Intern and Shut Up Kiss Me. Angel Olsen's third studio album is due on 2 Sep, via Jagjaguwar.
