Willy Mason: I've been having the same conversation about the weather the three times I've played this club."

Fan: "Pishin' down?"

Mason: "That's cool, I like reliability."

It's easy to forget that Willy Mason's still only 23, considering he's established as one of the most reliable performers around. Accompanied by a talented raggle-taggle country band no older than he is in the Liquid Room tonight, he proves himself to be both an able frontman and gifted solo artist. His voice is as impressive and distinct in the live arena as it is in the studio, his execution being augmented in the former with genuinely funny banter and an improvised set list. Raucous renditions of Feel No Pain and the emotionally charged Oxygen and Strong are followed by three encores. Sure, he outstays the welcome afforded by the Liquid Room's curfew, but he ensures the crowd would have him back here again and again... the weather don't matter. [Finbarr Bermingham]
