Metric @ Òran Mór, 12 May

Article by Ryan Drever | 14 May 2009

Four years have passed since Metric's Last album, Live It Out, but judging by tonight's performance you'd never believe it. Brimming with confidence and sheer happiness to be back on a stage together, the band pick up exactly where they left off with a solid 90 minute set of adrenaline-soaked brilliance. As expected, new album Fantasies features heavily tonight, but slots in so perfectly with older material, that despite chronology, nearly every song gets the same ear-shattering sing-along response from an eager crowd - some of whom even decide to rush the stage. Help, I'm Alive, along with songs like Dead Disco, Gold Guns Girls, and Gimme Sympathy all head up a strong, anthemic show, with every member of the band smiling, shouting, shaking, dancing and playing the hell out of their gear until an encore rendition of Monster Hospital ensures that everyone leaves in a satisfied, sweaty mess.
