Oxjam Glasgow Takeover, 24- 25 Oct

Article by Chris Buckle | 25 Sep 2009

Last year Oxjam commandeered Ashton Lane and scored an impressive lineup including Skinny faves Meursault and Eagleowl. For 2009’s Glasgow Takeover the net has been cast wider, the single cobbled aisle of 2008 extended to a gaggle of venues across the city including 13th Note, the Admiral, Mono and Sloans, the latter of which will host a stage curated by this very magazine on Saturday 24 October.

The number of musical participants is similarly engorged: over 120 acts are pegged to play, including Zoey Van Goey, The Low Miffs, Yahweh, The Seventeenth Century, The Xcerts, Mike Nisbet, Tango in the Attic, The Moth and the Mirror and Trapped in Kansas, with many more announcements promised in the coming weeks. What’s more, you don’t have to draw the line at simply attending the smorgasbord of events; part of Oxjam’s charms are its appeals to get involved and, if you’ve got the mettle, stage your own gig under its charitable banner. So whether it’s as punter or participant, make sure you join the revelry.

Weekend wristbands are available for £8.
