Will Sheff takes his inimitable stage show to Glasgow

Article by Finbarr Bermingham | 19 Aug 2009

There are few contemporary songwriters that share Will Sheff’s penchant for a spot of histrionics. On record, he regales us with tales of vampirism, regency, groupies and sailors. And when he takes to the stage, he does his damnedest to take all his characters with him. A performance from Okkervil River really is one to behold, for the quality of the songs on offer and the pure zeal of their irrepressible frontman. Look out for the odd tearjerker, acoustic interlude and off-kilter elucidation, but expect to go home knackered and very, very hoarse: this one should be an absolute rollercoaster.
