Múm @ Oran Mor

Don't expect some skinny dudes weeping into a laptop.

Icelandic electronic outfit Múm have made quite a name for themselves with their distinct blend of partly foreboding, partly precious childhood nostalgia and compellingly dramatic soundscapes. They've lost founding member Krist"n Anna Valtýsdóttir (she's off making shit folk records with Avey Tare of Animal Collective), but they've gained some new members, and now Múm sound more like a collective than ever. Recent release, Go Go Smear The Poison Ivy, sees them upping the intensity with a newfound reckless abandon (the good kind), yet maintaining their unique brand of twee-tronica. If you're bound for this Oran Mor gig, don't expect some skinny dudes weeping into a laptop; Múm will be augmenting their squiggly synths and icy beats with everything from violin to melodica to whatever other weird instruments they need to create an organic sound that feels very much alive.
