Goldfrapp @ The Corn Exchange, 5 Nov

Article by Euan Ferguson | 29 Oct 2008

Following her early days singing on Orbital and Tricky records, Alison Goldfrapp hit the big time with 2006’s Supernature, its glammy electro perfectly capturing the vogue sound of the moment. Her band’s most recent work has taken them in a new direction, with this year’s Seventh Tree a more dreamy, mellow, even folky affair. Its sweet mix of electronic and acoustic was critically well-received, but it will be interesting to see how it translates to a cavernous space like the Corn Exchange. New songs like A & E and Happiness will no doubt get their time, but the biggest noise will be reserved for the sultry, synthy dancefloor-fillers Goldfrapp are famous for.
