Glissando @ Captain's Rest, 7 Feb

Article by Georgina Merry | 27 Jan 2009

Experimental and undeniably affecting, Glissando’s haunting, ethereal sound captures the imagination and transports the listener to a ghostly place of introspection. It is not for the emotionally fragile; many songs tell of painful struggles and sorrow. Glissando is a term used to describe the sliding in music from one note to another, like when playing a trombone. The group's frequent use of this style makes for swooping, mournful melodies that swell with an underwater quality. It’s powerful yet minimalistic, sad yet beautiful and ideal for those who have an appreciation for such melancholy. Guaranteed to be a gig with a difference. [Georgina Merry]
