Remember nu-rave? Four posh white boys with keyboards come to save us all from other white boys with guitars? Yeah, it’s a bit hazy for me too, though it’s only been two years since Foals stormed in through this Klaxon-created chasm, stealing the limelight with their painfully cool, math rock-infused epileptic pop. Bar plays of Cassius at your local indie disco, you probably haven’t heard much from the Oxford quintet recently, but with a new album in the pipeline and a sell-out gig at Glasgow’s ABC lined up, Foals’ jarring, infectious noise may well cause a second epidemic.
