Eagles of Death Metal @ ABC, 31 Mar

Article by Stephen Toman | 04 Mar 2009

Frank Zappa managed the seemingly impossible by creating serious music that didn’t take itself seriously. Eagles of Death Metal, on the other hand, are entirely serious about playing silly, dirty, sexy, scruffy, un-serious rock and roll. They have silly moustaches and wear aviators indoors. They sing songs about taking drugs and making love, about taking drugs and losing love, all the while high-kicking in cowboy boots: manly yet entirely un-sexist. Touring in support of latest LP, Heart On, internet rumours persist that Queens of the Stone Age’s Josh Homme will be making a rare live appearance with them behind the tom-toms. [Stephen Toman]
