Crash My Model Car @ Cabaret Voltaire

Worth checking out if you like your View-esque jangle with a less irritating accent

Article by Heather Crumley | 09 Aug 2007
Hailing from Lewis and now based in Glasgow, Crash My Model Car believe in good old-fashioned songwriting with honesty and feeling in every note, and their refusal to be part of a scene has, somewhat contradictorily, won them an ever-increasing fan base. However, it seems they protest a little too much as while they haven't quite stooped to wearing neon, their spiky guitar pop isn't exactly a giant leap from what most of the playlist-straddling bands are currently offering. That said, there's an energy and a charm that makes Crash My Model Car an interesting prospect, an injection of joy and swagger in the familiar formula, and for an evening of high-velocity melodic indie, you could certainly do a lot worse. If nothing else, they're worth checking out if you like your View-esque jangle with a less irritating accent. [Heather Crumley]
