North Carolina's Bowerbirds hit both Glasgow and Edinburgh on their latest UK tour.

Article by Lauren Mayberry | 28 Oct 2009

After touring with Bowerbirds, John Darnielle, singer of The Mountain Goats, proclaimed the nu-folk twosome his new favourite band, ever. The North Carolina duo, comprised of Phil Moore on guitar, Beth Tacular on keys/accordion and augmented by a selection of other rotating session musicians, produce acres of enchanting, delicate melodies. Recent album Upper Air, released on Dead Oceans in July, follows in the nature-loving tracks of 2007’s acclaimed Hymns For A Dark Horse. Organic, plaintive and effortless, their albums are filled with love songs sung with love, endowed with simple and beautiful harmonies, sure to be even more colourful live.
