Air Traffic have garnered international attention after slogging through a major label bidding war, eventually signing with EMI. Recently wrapping a US tour, the band sets its sights on Glasgow's QMU. Comparisons to Snow Patrol, Muse, and early Ben Folds are evident when you sift through their debut album Fractured Life. The boys from Bournemouth drive out formidable pop anthems of love and grief led by Chris Wall, as he fervently bangs away on piano. As lead singer, Wall's eclectic voice is one of the group's greatest assets, straining to crescendo and floating through soft whispers to a gruff bass. A live show could separate Air Traffic from their commercial counterparts, eliciting raw edginess that may have been smoothed over in production, offering proof of individuality. Ladies, the sweet-faced rock stars will have you throwing elbows in the front row amid other lust-filled fans. Gents, if you go to this show, you might just get laid. [Beth Malone]
